Twentieth Century Fox Dedicates Center to Shirley Temple Black
CENTURY CITY, Calif. (May 16) -- News Corp. Chairman Rupert Murdoch and Shirley
Temple Black unveiled a bronze sculpture in the image of a young Shirley Temple
yesterday outside of the Child Development Center on the Twentieth Century Fox
Lot.
The dedication of the center in her name "serves as a fitting tribute to the
contributions and significant role Shirley Temple played in the studio's
history," a studio spokesperson said.
An integral part of Fox's heritage and an icon of its formative years, Mrs.
Black recently forged a new ongoing agreement with the studio that calls for
her to consult on the marketing of the collection of films she made for Fox as
a child, as well as other existing and future family oriented Fox
entertainment.
"Shirley Temple Black is living proof of the magic of motion pictures, the
power of children, and the importance of both," said Murdoch.
"Much of my childhood was spent at the studio, and I am pleased to have the new
childcare center carry my name," said Black.
Twentieth Century Fox is an operating unit of Fox Entertainment Group, A News
Corporation company.
